Team Empathy  ·  The Haven K'gari

Nine months in,
and it's compounding.

From a site Google barely knew to page one for the terms that matter

Where this started

The Haven's search engagement began in November 2025. In December, Google showed the site 827 times in the whole month and sent 30 clicks. There was no ranking presence for the terms that actually sell rooms on K'gari.

Nine months later, in August, Google showed the site 20,619 times and sent 200 clicks. That is roughly 25 times the visibility of where this began, and August alone delivered more clicks than December through March combined.

Every number traces to a named source: Google Search Console and GA4 pulled 2 September 2026, a live Google Australia rankings check the same day, and your SEO Work sheet. Search Console has no data before December 2025 and GA4 none before October 2025, so there is no year-on-year comparison to make yet. Next year there will be.

That shape is what compounding looks like in search. The content and technical work from June and July matured in August, which is exactly the lag you expect.

The rankings that matter

July is our manual monthly check; the live column is an automated Google Australia check run on 2 September, so treat them as two different instruments reading the same site.

The top-20 count going from 7 to 17 is the number worth remembering. And underneath it sits the real prize:

KeywordLive positionMonthly searches in Australia
poyungan rocks accommodation510
best place to stay on fraser island9170
stay at fraser island920
k'gari accommodation10880
fraser island retreat11720
fraser island accommodation129,900
accommodation on fraser island139,900

Those last two are the whole game. Two terms searched 9,900 times a month each, and as recently as May neither of them ranked anywhere at all. They are now on the edge of page one. Moving them into the top 10 is the single highest-value piece of work available on this site.

Already showing up in AI answers

Google now runs an AI answer on 7 of your 27 tracked searches, and on "best place to stay on fraser island" that AI answer cites The Haven. You can check it yourself: search the phrase and read the summary at the top. Visits from AI assistants also hit 12 in August, the highest on record and more than double July.

For a nine-month-old search presence in a category dominated by big operators and booking sites, being quoted in the AI answer is genuinely ahead of schedule.

Where this goes next

MoveWhy it matters
Push the two 9,900-a-month terms into the top 10"fraser island accommodation" and "accommodation on fraser island" are at 12 and 13. The difference between position 12 and position 8 on terms that size is the difference between a trickle and a real booking channel.
The terms that still don't rank"beachfront accommodation", "beach house accommodation" and "fraser island accommodation packages" have never ranked, and "fraser island stay" has slipped out. They need their own pages rather than a mention on an existing one.
Be the answer, not just a resultYou are already cited in one AI answer. The way to be cited in more is content that answers the real questions travellers ask about staying on K'gari, written to be quotable.
Structured data on the homepageThe homepage currently carries no structured data, which is the machine-readable summary Google and AI systems read first. Worth confirming and fixing.
More content, not more linksWe are changing how authority gets built: winding down monthly volume link building and putting that effort into content instead.
And the next step: Notable. We have built our own AI search platform, Notable, and it is live. It is how we will produce and calibrate content going forward, and it comes with a live dashboard including AI visibility tracking, so you can see exactly where The Haven shows up in AI answers. Ben would love to walk you through it in October.
